Part Deux

Which brings us to 2023…

Once we realized we were NOT Florida people (for a long list of reasons - the weather being only one of them), we started looking for another lot to build on back home in Utah.

Should be easy - right? Not so much…

We spent a LOT of time looking at, and hiking around, lots in South Davis County (the ONLY location that Mark would consider coming back to) for a number of reasons, one of which is the proximity to our airplane hangar at SkyPark Airport in Woods Cross. We had recently finished a major renovation and constructed a loft, complete with TV sitting area, wet bar, bathroom, store room, and work area (can you say ULTIMATE MAN CAVE), which is where he plans on spending a lot of time if/when he ever slows down and retires. The other reason is to be closer to friends and family.

FINALLY - after almost 2 years of looking - we found a lot that was about ¼ mile away from the last home we built up in Mueller Park Canyon, put in an offer, and purchased it in June of 2024.

I started to adjust the rough house plans to fit on the lot and we reached out to a couple of builders to see what it would take to make the dream happen. And in 2025 we worked with one of them to formalize my drafts and get a rough bid put together.

WOW! we should have gone into construction - we’d be rich by now. It’s crazy what things cost (and it’s only getting worse). We were so discouraged and getting ready to throw in the towel - when -

Stay tuned for “part trois” of this story - which quickly takes a turn in an unexpected direction…
